Sterilization and Patient Safety
Our office uses state of the art sterilization to ensure patient safety. Sterilization and disinfection are the basic steps in instrument processing and surface asepsis. Our heat stable instruments are cleaned prior to being sterilized by steam under pressure (autoclaving), dry heat or chemical vapor. Non heat stable instruments are sterilized using a "cold sterilzation" method of liquid chemical germicides. Sterilization refers to the use of a physical or chemical procedure to destroy all forms of microorganisms, including the highly resistant spores.
