Fast Braces

FastBraces

Traditionally, orthodontic treatment could require up to several years before completion. However, thanks to great strides in orthodontic technology, those treatment times are now down to only months or even weeks. Learn more about FastBraces and what they can do for you with Dentistry For Woodstock.

What are FastBraces?

FastBraces are an alternative to traditional orthodontic treatments which allow for a shortened treatment time. Developed over 25 years ago, FastBraces eliminate the need for tooth extraction prior to treatment. FastBraces also require fewer changes to the hardware during treatment, saving time at appointments. FastBraces’ design gives patients a comfortable and effective experience.

What makes FastBraces different than traditional braces?

FastBraces’ design sets them apart from traditional braces. The brackets used in FastBraces treatment are triangular as opposed to traditional braces’ square brackets. These square brackets only allow the teeth to move in certain ways over the course of several stages. Triangular brackets create more room between the braces themselves, allowing for a significantly higher flexibility of the braces’ wires. This added flexibility allows FastBraces to move the teeth’s roots faster and more efficiently than traditional braces, creating shortened treatment times.

What orthodontic issues can FastBraces treat?

FastBraces use different wires and brackets than traditional braces. The wires used cut down on the friction between wire and bracket, creating a more comfortable experience. Fast braces treats the same orthodontic abnormalities as traditional braces, including:

  • Overbite
  • Underbite
  • Open bite
  • Crossbite
  • High canines
  • Misaligned or “crooked” teeth
  • Overcrowded or overlapped teeth
  • Under crowded or gapped teeth

Correcting your teeth’s alignment and bite can also help improve the symptoms of issues like temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorder. FastBraces almost never requires extraction of the teeth and often requires less time wearing a retainer. FastBraces move the tooth’s root as the tooth moves and requires a single wire to get the job done.

Am I a candidate for FastBraces?

A good candidate for FastBraces is an adult or teen over the age of 12 who wishes to straighten their teeth and improve their mouth’s bite. Candidates should have a strong oral care routine which involves brushing twice a day and flossing between every bracket and wire at least once. A good candidate is committed to seeing their dentist often for regular check-ups and maintenance to their braces.
